West African Examination Council's certificate can either be gotten from your secondary school where you registered and wrote the Examination (for May/June) or at any WAEC office nationwide (for Nov/Dec or GCE) provided you wrote it in Nigeria.

Original Certificate for WAEC is usually required for screening purposes in higher institution. It is required in University of Ilorin during Penultimate screening which comes up a year to the official graduating year of a student. For example, an Industrial Chemistry student studying a 4 year course will have his/her penultimate screening in 300 level while an Chemical Engineering student studying a 5 year course will have that in 400 level.

It is also required in other higher learning institutions for verification of educational status.

Please note that WAEC certificate is different from a WAEC result slip or printout. It is given to you with WAEC original stamp and your colored passport on it.

Now how do you get it.

For WAEC SSCE May/June Original Certificate

SSCE certificate for May/June WAEC examination can be gotten from the school where you registered and wrote the examination.

1. Go back to the school where you wrote the Exam after 3 years (Original Waec certificate will be ready only after 3 years.)

2. Meet the Examination Officer.

3. You may be required to pay an amount from #2000 above.

4. Go along with your registration slip

5. Go along with a means of identification

That is all. Any other thing you will need to do will be told to you by the examination officer.

For WAEC GCE Nov/Dec Original Certificate

Your WAEC GCE original result can be printed online but the original certificate can only be gotten at the WAEC office closest to the location where you registered and wrote the examination.

You will need the following:

1. Your WAEC GCE registration slip

2. 2 passport photographs (Red Background)

3. A written letter requesting for your original WAEC GCE certificate

4. #2500 and above as the amount is subject to change anytime.

5. A valid means of Identification
